IS THERE A BEST RING ADJUSTMENT?

Postby jwint on Sat Apr 03, 2010 1:08 am

My question . . .

Is there a best way to adjust the straps . . . i.e. . . . do you want the cam buckle nearer to the rings or nearer to the S Buckle?

In Tyler's video (the one with little kid eating an ice cream cone on the slide) the cam buckle is at head height. I also saw a post somewhere in which Tyler told someone that he was wrong to have the buckle touching the rings. So I'm guessing that a lot of it is personal like and dislike . . . but there may be some advantage to a certain way . . . plus some things NOT to do.

Thanks

Hi Jwint,
Generally, it is a matter of preference. I set up the rings so that the buckle is around head height, because then I can use the cam buckle to get them to the floor. When you set up the rings, there will be a single strand, which connects between the S-Buckle and the cam buckle. And then there is a loop from the cam buckle to the ring. If you have really high ceilings, then you will mostly adjust the single strand, in order to maximize the length of the webbing. But adjust the loop is quicker, so do that when I can.
And you're correct, you do not want the buckle to touch the ring. It could possibly damage the ring and also there is just no reason to do it that way.
I hope this helps,
Tyler
