Elite Strength Trainer Now Available!

Postby admin on Wed Dec 24, 2008 5:44 am

I just wanted to let everyone know that the Elite Strength Trainer is now available. It's selling at a $40 discount till January 1st. It's a new tool that helps train for the cross, maltese and other advanced exercises. It works by adjusting the leverage placed on your arms in 10 increments. As you get stronger, you simply move up to the next level. It brings the direct, linear progressions available to weightlifters into the world of bodyweight exercise.
A few months ago, I took a prototype to the national team training center. I met with Kevin Mazeika, head coach of the US Olympic Team, and Jordan Jovtchev, 5-time Olympian, and they both offered me some feedback. Within 15 minutes of setting them up in the gym, I had almost a dozen national and Olympic caliber gymnasts from the American and Japanese teams try it out. They had all used equipment in the past that worked on the same principle, but unanimously preferred the design of the Elite Strength Trainer. They liked that it had a lot of adjustment points, it was quick to adjust and easy to set up and comfortable to use. This is actually a tool that is quite important in the training of a lot of top-level gymnasts. For some of them, it is just conditioning, but they make the normal rings look so easy. For others, it's the safest way to get back strength after an injury or to develop new strength skills. For the rest of us, it is a great way to safely and effectively incorporate advanced ring strength moves into our training.
In the next month, I will be posting a tutorial video with some top coaches showing how the EST can be used. Stay tuned!

Whoah sweet! I've been waiting for something like this to come out... can't wait to order one! :) Perfect if you don't have someone to spot you!
Just one question though; how long are the straps?

Roman,
The straps are 5 feet long. Generally, I recommend attaching them to a set of rings, but they can be used by themselves as well. The straps can also be attached at the hook, so you can reduce the length to 2.5 feet, which is helpful sometimes when attaching them to rings.

Thanks Tyler! By the way, any chance you would be willing to extend the 40$ off special offer until mid-January? :)

Hey tyler i have a question about the design. What made you go with the design u went with. It seem like they should be on the bottom sides of ones arms and not the top as this one is: http://www.gymsupply.com/index.asp?Page ... rodID=3391 What would be better about yours then the one from gymsupply?
thanks,
casey

I don't have it (either) but from what I've felt is that anything on the bottom kinda grates your forearms. One of our guys made one with a bottom side and depending on how much muscle you have on your forearms they can get chopped up pretty easily by edges or parts will take more pressure than others.

I'd rather have something with straps like Tyler's that fit snugly... but cost may be prohibitive (haven't even looked at the price on each so I'm unbiased).

I agree with what Steve said. In addition I believe that the design itself is A. much more efficient, and B. of a much higher quality. Firstly, If you notice the EST has only one point of attachment for the straps on a single rail, which is a lot less cumbersome.

Secondly, each trainer seems to be a single piece of cast Iron (or whatever the metal is), professionally manufactured in a factory, rather than the piece of equipment sold at gym-supply, which with all due respect, looks like something which has been assembled in someone's garage workshop for 20$. But that's just my personal opinion.

Lastly, considering the pricing, I think you're getting a much better deal with the EST.

Anyway, I haven't tried it out yet myself, but I'll be sure to post up a full review when I do :)

I did consider having the support come from underneath the arm, but every solution I could think of was a bit cumbersome. One thing I wanted was a single attachment point, so that it's quicker to go from one difficulty level to the next. In the end, having the attachments on top was much more effective. After that, it was just a matter of refining the design. The wave-like shape on top helps the hooks move around more smoothly. And we added the ability to adjust the handle position for different arm lengths. All in all, I think it turned out really well. I also picked the same anodized aluminum that Apple uses in its computers and I think it looks pretty amazing!

Very cool. Yeah it is easy on the eyes. Is it padded where it makes contact above the elbow? Or does your arm just press against the metal?

The metal does not need to be padded, since there is only very light contact. The sleeve is nylon webbing that is padded with neoprene. The weight of your arm goes onto the sleeve.
