Hi All,

New to this Forum, thought maybe someone out there could answer a question for me and I think I have a new twist to mounting your rings. First my question:

I have to separate mounts at home for my rings on is two eye bolts approx 25 or 30 foot high in a tree branch with dynamic climbing rope hanging down to a carabiner low enough to then put the straps for my rings through the carabiner. I haven't actually tried this set up yet as i just completed it and need to get the biners set right etc. etc. etc. but does anyone know how the dynamic rope will affect my workout? There will be quite a bit of give and bounce in the rings vs. using just the webbing normally used.

Also, as for my usual set up which I currently use (I'll have to post pics later if anyone would like to see them), I mounted two 1in (inside diameter) eye bolts in a stud in the ceiling of my garage (as many of you have as a set up) however, I found that a 3/4 in black iron nipple (you can get in various lengths at home depot) will slide perfectly through the two eye bolts, cap the ends with threaded caps to keep it from wandering out of the eye bolts, now you can adjust the width for those wide grip pull ups until you can work yourself into making them wide grip using just your strength, and it also allows for swapping out various other equipment like hang boards (for any other climbers out there) etc....

That sounds very cool. You will have to post some pictures of that.
As for the dynamic webbing, it shouldn't make too much of a difference, as most ring exercises are fairly slow movements. If you double up the rope into a loop, it should stretch less and have a smaller impact on the training.

hi all i'm a brand new owner of elite rings and a brand new member to this site although i have been looking at this thread for about a week now trying to figure out potential ways of mounting the rings. i am not a handyman by any means and was looking for the easiest way to do it. i was quite skeptical about the previous post showing the rings hung from a pullup bar but i am very pleased to report that it does indeed work! you can pretty much do all the lower ring work up to dips and pullups as long as you do them in a slow and controlled manner. thanks for the tips guys i have a lot to learn!

Hi

I have a freespotter hooked up in my Co-Op top floor of 6 stories. It's attached to finished ceiling ( Wooden Joists ) and works great.

I'm buying rings (Not sure of Brand yet But leaning towards the New Elites)) and want to use my existing mount for the Rings that I use for my free spotter.

I checked alot of posts here and other forums on how to mount Rings
to a finished ceiling. It seems it's really the same but one difference.

I notice people are using a 2x4 attached to 3 or 4 ceiling joist to spread the load. My set up (Freespotter) is also attached to 4 joists but I don't use a 2x4 ..it's a metal rail 60 inches long. (See pic below)

Would it be OK to attach Rings to this existing rail or do you think the
rail is to narrow and won't spread the load properly being it's not a 2x4.

Or should I just install another steel rail ..if yes ...would it still be OK
being it's not a 2x4 .

My main concern :yikes: is the spread of the load as Ring movement is a little different that bench pressing being it's not a 2x4 .

Picture of Steel Rail that I have on my ceiling

The barbell (45lbs)when not in use is swung/pull back (No weights of course)and sits on 2 hooks that I have in the side wall to keep it out of the way hanging.

:thanx:
